EuroPro a Success at Burhill
7 August 2009
Burhill Golf Club played host to Europe’s top up-and-coming tour players recently having been chosen to host a PGA EuroPro Tour event.
The Walton-on-Thames venue welcomed aspiring European Tour professionals from across the continent from Thursday July 30, to Saturday August 1, when players tackled the spectacular New Course.
The PGA EuroPro Tour, a development tour for young professionals looking to make the main European Tour, is screened on Sky Sports, giving Burhill Golf Club its first taste of television exposure.
Players took on the picturesque New Course at Burhill, which incorporates the River Mole and features dramatic water features. The signature par-3 18th requires a solid tee shot over the River Mole towards the Georgian mansion clubhouse to a two-tier green.
Colin Mayes, Chief Executive of Burhill Golf & Leisure Ltd, said: “We were thrilled to welcome the PGA EuroPro Tour to Burhill Golf Club’s New Course. The staff at the Club did a tremendous job in the smooth operation of the event.”
“Burhill Golf Club, with its two 18-hole championship courses and stately clubhouse, close to London and the M25, is a popular venue for business golf. Hosting a PGA EuroPro Tour underlines the quality of our New Course and is an excellent opportunity for companies to entertain clients in a unique way, playing alongside Europe’s best up-and-coming professionals. It should be an outstanding event.”
Danny Nickless, PGA EuroPro Tour Operations Manager, added: “Burhill is a fantastic addition to the 2009 schedule. General Manager David Cook and his team have a venue to be proud of and I’m sure they will pull out all the stops for what promises to be a great event on a very challenging golf course.”
